New Beginnings

When something isn’t working we CAN make a change. It seems like such an easy concept to name. The fear that comes with it, and the comfort and predictability of routine, and habit, can holds us back. One step, one movement, one action toward a different path, and we have altered our direction.
 
I am hoping for a renewed energy for everyone this year. 2009 was hard on so many, and it feels like a shift is about to occur. I have recently made many steps to change my direction to a path which will bring me closer to my goals. The New Year offers an opportunity of something different. The thing is that it is just an opportunity.
Motivation, or motive perhaps. The something different has to come from us. We must take action to create change.
 
Sometimes change can seem overwhelming – when and how will I make my life work for me? When will I get that job, or when will my marriage get better? When will I figure out what I want to do with my life? When will I like my body? When will I feel connected in my relationships? When will I have children? Where will I live? So many questions we all ask ourselves…
 
If we take one step in the direction we want to go, every day this year, just one small step, we will look back on this moment next January, and our journey will make sense. 365 steps toward the life we want to live – that sounds like it would feel pretty good.
